About Cratering on Copper Anode of Atmospheric Arc

An experiment has been considered for forming spots from the atmospheric arc on the copper anode. An average size and photos of the formed craters are presented, the arc current oscillograms are considered. The calculated arc current density is comparable to that of the vacuum arc current and is close to the current density causing an explosion of the cold copper.
