The paper considers European norms EN 584-1:2006 which divide radiographic films into six classes. The important problem is to rank a radiographic film to a particular class according to a suitable technique. This technique allows determining the main characteristics of the radiographic films, such as sensitivity to radiation, width (by a characteristic curve, which is optical density vs. relative radiation dose logarithm), and acutance (according to a duplex two-wire image quality indicator. The article presents the main steps of both radiographic film testing and ranking to classes C1...C6.
