On the Need to Improve Document Management in Technological Preparation of the Metalworking Production

Abstract

The paper considers current practices in the production design and technological preparation and documentation developed based on the current USDD, USPTP and USTD standards. Such documentation is used in operation of the procurement, machining and other departments of the mechanical engineering enterprises. The paper indicates problems in introduction of the modern computer technologies in operation of the relevant mechanical engineering enterprise services, as they are associated with the lack of personnel with skills in working with software products known as the CAD/CAM systems. Besides, the engineering specialists training level in this area is lagging behind. Using the example of a specific component, the paper proposes to compare traditional production preparation and using the technological and design advantages of the CAD/CAM software products. Brief procedure for working with the CAM system interface is provided, as it ensures automated development of the technological processing sequence and creation of the CNC equipment control programs. Clarity, information content and other advantages are noted that the CAM systems provide in representing the machining technological sequence, creation of the CNC equipment control programs, visualizing the tool paths trajectories and verifying the machining results. Based on the data created in the CAM system, options are proposed to present technological documents for their subsequent use in the machining workshops
