Analysis of Existing Errors in Double-Flank Wave Engagement

The wave gears are widely used both in mechanical engineering, and in instrument making. Their production is established in many countries and especially in the USA, Japan and Germany. Now they are being developed in the Russian Federation as well. Of vital importance for wave gear application in non-power (kinematic) drive is estimating the errors caused by eccentricities of gear and backlash arising due to the presence of gaps between the contacting tooth profiles of flexible and rigid gears. We examine the effect the errors in flexible and rigid gear manufacture have on their tangential and radial displacement in the doubleflank wave engagement. Findings of the research show that the double-flank wave engagement provides higher parameters of kinematic accuracy as compared to a single-tooth wave contact.
