The brief information on the application of hydrostatic supports for hydro cylinder rods are given. A mathematical model of the liquid flow in the slot of the hydrostatic support is developed, which takes into account the wedge shape of the slot created due to the rod misalignment in the hydrostatic support pivot under the external radial load. A procedure of the numerical study of the liquid flow within the slot for determination of integral characteristics of the hydrostatic support is described. Calculation results are confirmed by physical experiment.
