A new version of the method of characteristics with the floating grid is described, which provides the satisfaction of integral conservation laws. Test numerical calculations of discharge pulses, obtained at one-cycle facility "cylinder-valve", are performed that showed a good agreement of the calculation results with the appropriate experiments. Special investigations are conducted in order to determine coefficients of friction necessary to take into account the pulse decay.
